The way we look at it

JP’s Leadership philosophy is unsurpassed. Our belief draws on a wide base of research that addresses not only the importance of clear and proactive leadership, but also lays out a concise blueprint of how to apply this research to the day-to-day operation of a school.

If, as research indicates, the teacher is the most important factor in the classroom, the principal (and the leadership team) are the most important factor affecting the school. When these elements – teacher and leadership – are bound together by a common vision and mission student achievement increases.

Each of the five JP Associates domains Leadership, Positive School Culture, Instructional Management, Responsive Coaching, and Curriculum consist of a series of strands which represent a major concept that when woven together result in the successful establishment of the desired domain. The four strands that comprise the Leadership domain are:

  • Introduction & Overview (Define responsive)
  • Defining & Describing the Responsive School
    • Identify the Common Elements
    • Characteristics of Effective Teachers
    • Closing the Gap
    • Teacher Quality research
  • The Role of the Leader
  • The Role of the Staff
  • Culture of Collaboration
  • Supportive Research for each of the above

  • Who and What is the Instructional Leader
  • What are the Responsibilities of the Responsive Leader
  • What does the data tell us Responsive Leaders do? (Common elements)
  • Defining Goals, Objectives and Strategies
  • Strategic PlanningManaging the Team
  • Running an Effective Meeting/Problem Solving
  • Motivating your Staff

  • Defining what a “Responsive” Team is
  • Who can be on the Team
  • How to Identify and Recruit Team Members
  • Team Building/Team Role
  • Celebrating Successes

  • Create an Action Plan Based on Strands 1-3
    • Develop Vision Statement
    • Strategy to Get Your Message Out to Your Staff
    • Identify Team Members
    • Develop Schedule for Meetings
